Ms Panda Ngai,
Board Certified Music Therapist
Miss Panda F Y Ngai is the founder of Panda Music Zone (A Music Therapy Centre and Instrumental Learning Studio in Hong Kong). She has been a Board Certified Music Therapist in the United States since 1999. She graduated with a double Master degrees in Music Education and Music Therapy from Shenandoah Conservatory, Shenandoah University in Winchester VA.
She was a instructor for Shenandoah University music
therapy program to teach and train music therapy students and interns. Her
responsibilities included observing music therapy students weekly in their
practicum sessions and evaluated of their strengths and weaknesses regarding
their music therapy sessions.
During Miss Panda's years of serving as a music therapist
in the States, she worked with regular children and children with special needs
such as autism, developmental delay, emotion disturbed children, attention
deficit with hyperactivity (ADHD), learning difficulties and children at risk
in Winchester city and Frederick county schools in VA, USA. She developed music
therapy sessions that were engaging, developmentally appropriate, and directly
supported the Virginia Standards of Learning for students. Her sessions are 90%
live music that is age-appropriate and interactive. She easily moves from a variety
of styles of music to address the children's needs and their interests.
Besides teaching piano and working with individuals with
special needs. Ms Panda is a music therapist at Kau Yan primary and
Kindergarten, music is used to increase attention span and reinforce academic
learning. In addition, she is also a part time lecturer at Hong Kong Institute
of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee), for the Department of Child Education
and Community Services.
